The NFL schedule release is becoming more and more of a spectacle with every ing year, and this year’s edition has social media buzzing today. The Week 1 schedule has yet to be released in full, but many rumors and leaks have been occurring throughout the week. We do know that the Detroit Lions will kick off the season against the Kansas City Chiefs, along with a few different matchups that are set in stone. NFL Week 1 Odds: Chiefs a Sizable Favorite Over Lions
Lions-Chiefs Odds
- Spread: Lions +6.5 (+100), Chiefs -6.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Lions +220, Chiefs -260
- Total: Over 53.5 (-110), Under 53.5 (-110)
The Lions figure to be a strong candidate to take a significant leap forward but they’ll have their work cut out for them when going up against the Chiefs juggernaut to kick off the season. It is bound to be a huge party in Kansas City as they raise the banner and celebrate their second Lombardi Trophy in the past three years.
NFL fans should be gifted an offensive shootout in this matchup, and the large 53.5 total reflects just that. It is well-documented how incredible and historic the Chiefs’ offense is, but the Lions are no slouches either. Detroit ranked fourth in yards per game (380.5) in 2022-23 and should have an added boost by selecting running back Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the NFL Draft. The Lions surprised many with a 9-8 record last season and will have an opportunity to make a statement on national TV.
The Lions-Chiefs NFL Week 1 odds show Detroit will have a tough time going into Arrowhead Stadium and training on the Chiefs’ parade, but they are certainly a team to watch entering the season.
Cowboys-Giants Odds

The Giants and Cowboys will renew their rivalry in Week 1. After leading the team to the playoffs in his first season as head coach, Brian Daboll will look to take the Giants to the next step and turn them into a bonafide contender. They opted to bring back quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley in the offseason and will hope they can continue to grow and excel with a better understanding of Daboll’s offense.
But the Cowboys have gotten the better of this rivalry for many years and won’t be an easy draw for the opener.
Packers-Bears Odds

- Moneyline: Packers -105, Bears -115
- Total: Over 42 (-110), Under 42 (-110)
For the first time in 15 years, the Packers will not have Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback to take on their bitter rivals int he NFC North. The Bears have certainly played the role of little brother in this rivalry for the better part of the past 30 years, but there is reason to believe a shift is possible. We still don’t know what the Packers’ offense looks like with Jordan Love at the helm, but Chicago sure hopes they have their quarterback of the future in Justin Fields.
The Bears committed to Fields in the offseason and built around him by trading the first overall pick for star receiver D.J. Moore and a package of later draft picks. Fields and the Bears can prove they are worthy of the hype with a Week 1 win over the Packers on their home turf.
Eagles-Patriots Odds

The Eagles came so close to winning the Super Bowl last season and were forced to change around their roster in the offseason to make their cap space work while keeping the core intact. Philly lost running back Miles Sanders, defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, linebacker T.J. Edwards, and offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo in free agency. But they recovered by adding the interior lineman Jalen Carter in the draft while adding running backs D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny.
Philadelphia figures to contend again this season, and sportsbooks are giving plenty of respect by making them a decently-sized favorite on the road. The Patriots’ offense struggled in the second season with Mac Jones under center, resulting in the team bringing back Bill O’Brien as offensive play-caller this season. They are hoping the one step backward is not a sign of things to come and can prove they are ready to get back to Bill Belichick’s championship standard against a great team in Week 1.
Bills-Jets Odds
The NFL season will open and close with two great matchups on paper. The Aaron Rodgers era begins at home with a matchup against close friend Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers is still in the honeymoon phase with the Jets and their fanbase after being sent from Green Bay in a trade, but all that could change if the team lays a dud against the Bills in Week 1.
Buffalo will certainly be playing with an edge after being bounced in the Divisional Round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season. The close Bills-Jets betting line shows we have a lot to look forward to in the first Monday Nigth Football game of the season.
