Carlos Alcaraz’s first Wimbledon championship is hardly a shock. The 20-year old Spaniard has cemented himself as one of the top contenders on tour behind Djokovic. That said, this win is extra special for Alcaraz who nearly defeated Djokovic to move deep into the French Open bracket earlier this year. The loss was due in large part to Alcaraz’s fitness, as he was unable to compete at full health throughout the match, allowing Djokovic to easily win the third and fourth sets to notch a 3-1 victory. Alcaraz proved in better health, going the five set distance to take out Djokovic at Wimbledon this Sunday.

Djokovic was the odds on favorite to win the Wimbledon finale over Alcaraz. He was also the favorite to win the tournament coming in, with Alcaraz second on the tennis odds board. They now prepare to head across the pond with things starting to shape up for the U.S. Open odds. Djokovic is a +110 favorite to win the next Grand Slam, but Alcaraz is close behing (+400). The other of Wimbledon’s final four are next in line. Daniil Medvedev is +400 to win the U.S. Open and Jannik Sinner is +1200. Both lost in straight sets in the Wimbledon semi-finals to Alcaraz and Djokovic, respectively. Sinner is the only player in the top four of the U.S. Open odds to never have won the event.

The top of the board is littered with big stars, including Nick Kyrgios (+1600) who had an increidble U.S. Open run a year ago. Kyrgios has since battled knee injuries, with a surgery causing him to miss most of this season. He had hoped to compete at Wimbledon but withdrew shortly before the tournament. s Tiafoe (+2800) made a name for himself last year, as well. The American native reached the semi-finals before losing to Alcaraz in five sets.
