Carlos Alcaraz (+125) has a slight edge over Djokovic (+160) in the US Open odds. The 20-year old Spaniard got the better of Djokovic at Wimbledon, defeating him in the final round in five sets. The epic matchup was a breakthrough for Alcaraz after he was defeated by Djokovic in the semi-finals of the French Open. Alcaraz matched Djokovic early in that matchup until running into fitness issues that caused cramping and an ultimate defeat to the veteran Djokovic.
The French Open championship was Djokovic’s 23rd Grand Slam trophy. He won his 22nd at the year’s first Grand Slam, the Australian Open. A win at Wimbledon would have given Djokovic a shot to sweet this year’s four major tournaments. Alcaraz put a stop to that, and the momentum is carrying him just ahead of Djokovic in the tennis odds for the US Open.
Alcaraz is no stranger to US Open success. He won the tournament in 2022 by taking out Casper Ruud in the final match. That championship was Alcaraz’s first Grand Slam win, his second coming at the aforementioned Wimbledon tournament this season. Djokovic has won the US Open three times in his career. Those came in 2018, 2015 and 2011.

Daniil Medvedev (+600) won the US Open in 2021. He enters this year’s final Grand Slam with the third shortest line in the Men’s US Open odds. Medvedev is followed by four others with shorter than 20:1 odds to win the event. Jannik Sinner (+1200), Holger Rune (+1600), Stefanos Tsitsipas (+1600) and Casper Ruud (+1600). Alexander Zverev (+2500) is the only player other than those four with odds shorter than 30:1. Taylor Fritz (+3000), s Tiafoe (+3500), Matteo Berrettini (+3500) and Felix Auger Aliassime (+3500) round out the top-12 in the Men’s tennis odds for the US Open.
The most notable absences from the Men’s odds board are Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios. The former has been sidelined for the entire 2023 season after undergoing surgery for a hip flexor. The 37-year old all-time great has been keeping tennis fans and bettors up-to-date on his progress and hopes to return to the court at some time in the future. He has said that 2024 will be his last tennis season.
Kyrgios has also been sidelined for most of this season. The Australian native made a run at the 2022 US Open crown before losing in the quarter-finals. He has been out most of this year with a knee injury.
