We return after a 2/3 week at the Charles Schwab with a packed card and plenty of excitement in Canada. We may even hear from last year’s defending champ. While the probability of someone winning again with a 72-foot putt is rather low, we should have plenty of drama – even without Scottie Scheffler. Sahith Theegala B/W Than 24.5 Finishing Position

We are essentially taking Sahith Theegala as a T20 play with four spots of buffer. He’s an amazing fit for this course with a heavier focus on Bentgrass greens and dialed in wedge play. Elite level striking will help here too, especially on longer Par 3s. Theegala is one of the best golfers in the current field gaining strokes on Bentgrass and approach shots 150 or less. We love him to jump out early – see our First Round Leader column for more – despite having a later tee time on Thursday. Ultimately that’s inconsequential to him making the cut and a run come the weekend.
Theegala’s success this year, five T10 finishes, have correlated to gaining strokes on approach shots. The better he’s hitting his wedge to high irons, the higher probability he has to win. We are aiming for a T20 finish for a golfer who wields his flat stick like a weapon – gaining strokes in 10 of 13 (Not counting Zurich) events this calendar year. Putter, wedge, win. That’s the key here and we like Theegala to follow that pattern.

Alex Noren B/W Than 25.5 Finishing Position
It’s the same situation as above; Alex Noren is another tremendous fit for Hamilton and should thrive this week. Let’s start with everything leading up to this event up north. Noren is playing as well as any current golfer in the field, especially over a 12-16 round range.
Noren is playing the best golf of his career, at least on TOUR, and is awaiting this major breakthrough moment. He’s yet to win on TOUR and is giving people plenty of hope with how well he’s hitting the golf ball.
That’s also the beauty of getting someone as consistent as Noren at a finishing position of 25.5. He’s one of the best overall players right now in the field – including one that boasts McIlroy, Theegala, and Shane Lowry amongst others. While the odds may be shorter due to how complete of a player Noren has become, we find value in him finishing BETTER than 25.5 overall.
We’ve seen him gain strokes all over the course, primarily approach and putting. There’s no overarching emphasis on distance off the tee, setting up precise approach shots for Noren, only to clean up on Bentgrass.

Nick Taylor B/W Than 49.5 Finishing Position
Much like our play last week on CT Pan, we are confident a made cut will cash this leg of our card. Nick Taylor returns to defend his RBC Championship trophy, but doesn’t quite have the same form as last year. People will focus on the miraculous putt that ended an insanely long losing streak for Canada, but Taylor was right there – needing to play well just for the chance to rip out Tommy Fleetwood’s heart.
Taylor isn’t playing the best golf right now, but he wasn’t last year at this time either. The local hero MC at the Charles Schawb, only to win at the RBC then follow up with two more MC. Yes, he’s a fantastic story, but he’s also a great fit for this course. Luck happens in golf all the time but the best are constantly in positions to benefit from it. Your 25 foot putt to save a 7 isn’t the same as Taylor navigating a familiar course for four straight days. We like him to return, make the cut, and slide under a T50.
