Brady revealed very little about his future plans following the 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Wild Card Round.
“I’m gonna go home and get a good night’s sleep as soon as I can tonight,” Brady said, per Fox News. “There’s been a lot of focus on this game. Just one day at a time.”
The loss to the Cowboys magnified the Buccaneers’ weaknesses throughout the season. The ing game was spotty, the running game non-existent, and the defense struggled with missed tackles and assignments while trying to keep the game close. Still, head coach Todd Bowles says there is a way to build the team back into a contender in the offseason.
“Never rebuild. You always reload,” he said following the loss, via the official transcript. “You feel like you have a chance to win every year. You’ve just got to tweak some things from a schematic standpoint all the way around — offense, defense and special teams. Obviously, no one ever comes back with every player on the team, so we’ll have some new faces in here. That’s just part of the game.”
The Brady-Raiders rumors began immediately after Vegas decided to bench quarterback Derek Carr and move on from the veteran signal-caller this offseason. The Brady linkage to head coach Josh McDaniels is obvious after all the time they spent together in New England, but the plethora of offensive playmakers already in place in Vegas would likely be a welcome sight for Brady, as well.
Brady still finished first in the NFL in completion (490) and eight in ing touchdowns (25) despite the offensive inefficiencies this season. He may be planning on taking it ‘one day at a time’ in the aftermath of the tough loss, but his next team is going to have to act fast if they want to compete with the many other organizations out there that seem willing to make a pitch to the 45-year-old.
