Make that two straight hits for us! Welcome to Texas as we go for three in a row. As of this morning, it’s trending that the Houston Texans are getting a big bump in players returning from injury. They are going to need as many healthy players as possible as the best team in the NFC comes to town. C.J. Stroud and Jared Goff may headline the occasion, but it’s Tank Dell and Nico Collins who provide a huge bump to the home team. There should be plenty of scoring opportunities between these two squads as we make our Lions-Texans anytime touchdown bet for Sunday Night Football.
Lions-Texans Anytime Touchdown Bet for Sunday
You won’t find many teams that give up more touchdowns in the air than the Houston Texans. While that may be music to Jared Goff’s ears, it’s weighted the anytime touchdown market rather significantly. Amon-Ra St. Brown sits at +115 and is the obvious choice to cross the goal line. The number is so watered down that books are begging you to take him for multiple scores — not us, mainly because we don’t need to take the risk.
Sam LaPorta is an interesting choice until you see that the Texans actually cover the tight end position quite well. While giving up a league-leading number of ing touchdowns, the Texans could slow and truly limit LaPorta when it matters most. I’d be looking to fade his receptions prop over taking him to score. That still leaves a wide hole to puncture through this Texans defense; we just need to find the right number.
I like Jameson Williams to get a score tonight in his first game back from a suspension. He’s a fantastic matchup for the Lions against this awful secondary, at least when it comes to keeping guys out of the end zone. Williams was scoring before the suspension and should have chances down field against Houston — a team that gives up a large number of deep balls.
Goff should have options as he goes through his progressions, but Detroit’s best chances of going deep and scoring lie in the hands of Williams. He didn’t miss a ton of time with the two-game hit for substance abuse and has two touchdowns over his last three games. He will get back in tonight.
