Smith reeled in five catches for 131 yards, including a 63-yard deep ball that gave the Eagles a 27-7 lead in the third quarter. Opposite of Smith was A.J. Brown, who showed his displeasure on the sideline while the Eagles were ahead. Hurts made an effort to get Brown the ball after the altercation, but it wasn’t needed with the Eagles’ success in the run game. That will change tonight against a Buccaneers defense that allowed just 67 yards on the ground to the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
D’Andre Swift, behind the Eagles lethal offensive line, controlled the game for the Eagles. They took the time-of-possession battle by 19 minutes on their way to 259 rushing yards. The Buccaneers’ game plan must be for them to live with Hurts beating them through the air, leading to more attempts. He threw just 23 es in Week 2 for 193 yards. We will back his attempts tonight, while I project for the Buccaneers offense to put up points against an Eagles defense that is not the same from a year ago.
