Joey Estes M/L Than 3.5 Strikeouts
The Athletics aren’t surprising anyone ahead of a new series. They limp into San Diego looking to stave off another three-game losing streak, sending Joey Estes to the hill with any hopes of stopping the bleeding. Estes hasn’t been bad from a metrics standpoint: .282 xwOBA and .220 xBA. Add the 23.4% strikeout rate and things aren’t as bleak for Estes, even if his team is in the dumps. This is a low number for Estes primarily because of the ridiculously difficult matchup he faces.
Estes simply can’t pitch to any type of consistent without leaving some dangerous pitches in the zone. The Padres don’t strike out and will force Estes to truly work for some outs. Taking away the strikeout from Estes works two times against this prop: First, it’s his main vehicle for success, and second, it limits his time on the mound.

Ben Rortvedt M/L Than 0.5 Hits
What began as a hot start to the season has since fizzled for Ben Rortvedt over the past month. He’s struggling to see the ball compared to the early confidence we saw from the Rays catcher. Tampa sits dead last in the AL East while just three games under .500, sitting 11.5 games back of tonight’s opponent in the Baltimore Orioles. Rortvedt is now charged with dynamically shifting a bad stretch against Baltimore’s Corbin Burnes.
Forget the matchup for a second, as difficult as that is on paper. Rortvedt is in the midst of a streak where he’s had a hit in only nine of his last 27 games. Plenty of those games were against pitchers of far less quality than the one he’ll see tonight, on top of these games have been stretched out, not in small bunches. This is one of the weaker hitters on the weakest team in the AL East, against one of the best pitchers in baseball. It is hard to imagine much will change tonight.
DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Ben Rortvedt LESS Than 0.5 Hits
Jose Berrios M/L Than 4.5 Strikeouts
Just above the Rays in the standings are the Jays, as things haven’t exactly panned out as expected for Toronto. Jose Berrios takes the hill for Toronto in Milwaukee against Colin Rea and the Brewers. The opposing pitcher is relevant here because Rea is bad enough to spot an early lead against Toronto, affording a little more leeway for Berrios. While he may need it, we still like Berrios doing enough against a Brewers team that’s still surrendering runs.
The strikeout rate isn’t spectacular for Berrios — sitting at just 18.9% — but some of this is how much the Brewers hitters will offer up in return. This is a team with a handful of everyday guys who have uncomfortably high strikeout rates for a first-place team. Even its run differential hasn’t caught up to Milwaukee’s record. Berrios may give up a run or three, but he has a few things working for him in this matchup. An early lead and an eager dance partner leads to the more.
