Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets First Inning Bet
I won’t lie, I definitely did not see Zac Gallen getting taken for a run in the first against that lowly Mets offense. So, we’re going right back to the NRFI well with two of my dudes pitching in this game.
I’ve been a big Kodai Senga stan all year, and it has paid off for me, as the Mets righty is 18-8 on NRFIs this season. He’s been piling up the strikeouts as well, striking out 181 batters in just under 150 innings. Senga has one start against the D-backs this season, where he cashed the no run first inning, threw 8 innings of 1-run ball and struck out 12. That’s dominance with a capital D.
For Arizona, ole 2-R, 2-L Merrill Kelly is on the mound, and while he doesn’t have the insane strikeout rate Senga has, he’s been BETTER on NRFIs. Kelly enters Thursday’s game with a 20-6 no run first inning record and has cashed the NRFI in his last two. In those starts he’s allowed only 2 runs across 12.2 innings and struck out 18. I think he’ll finish up the last three outs to need to cash this -105 NRFI.

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies First Inning Bet
We’re going back to Coors Field again, with value on our mind. Bet365 had this priced at -125 when I bet it this morning. It felt like I was doing something dirty getting those kinds of odds that early.
This game features two division teams, so they’ve seen each other A LOT over the years. For Chase Anderson, he’s faced Giants hitter 112 times in his career, and they’ve managed a .286 average, .455 slugging and 10 extra-base hits (4 home runs). Anderson has been surprisingly “better” at home, but when you’re 0-5 and have a 6.49 ERA on the season … well, you get it. He just faced the Giants in his last start (in San Fran) and allowed two first-inning runs and finished with 6 earned runs in 3.1 innings.
Yes, Logan Webb has been strong on cashing NRFI bets this season (23-7), but let’s take a deeper look. The Rockies batters know him well, having 141 career at-bats against him. In those 141 at-bats, they’ve found some success. A .291 AVG, .324 OBP and .743 OPS, as well as 41 hits (12 for extra bases). Webb has given up more runs in Coors Field (22) than he has in any other ballpark in his career — but that shouldn’t be TOO surprising.
The over/under is sitting at 10.5, and with these odds, I can’t up on the YRFI. If they get me, they get me.
