Scottie Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the world rankings and the betting favorite to win the 2023 Masters. Despite the short price, the public betting data released by sportsbooks shows bettors can’t stop backing him.
Scheffler, the defending champion, hasn’t slowed down in 2023. He has wins at the Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS, while finishing T4 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. In such an unpredictable sport, it seems predictable that Scheffler will contend.
Bettors certainly hope so.

Scheffler is as short as +650 at shop for best bets here), which is awfully short for a field of this strength. But that shows how strong his play has been, along with fellow favorites Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
At both BetMGM and SuperBook, Scheffler has been bet on more than any other golfer. He’s also taking the most money in the outright market as well.
From a sharp vs. square perspective, at least at SuperBook, there are noticeable differences in tickets vs. handle for Jordan Spieth and Will Zalatoris. The players are second and third in total bets taken at SuperBook, respectively, but Spieth is ninth in total handle and Zalatoris is outside the top 10.
After Scheffler, Rory McIlroy is the preferred option to Jon Rahm by the public. McIlroy is second in handle at SuperBook and second in handle and bets at BetMGM. McIlroy is looking to complete the career Grand Slam with the only major that has thus far alluded him.
Outside of the current ‘Big Three’ of Scheffler, McIlroy and Rahm, the player taking the most money at SuperBook is Collin Morikawa.
This is generally not a tournament for longshots, but the longshot getting the most attention is, of course, Tiger Woods. At +6600, Woods is sixth in total bets and handle at BetMGM. The non-Tiger longshot attracting the most action? Tommy Fleetwood, also +6600.
