Frisco Bowl Pick & Prediction
UTSA enters this game with the healthier roster ahead of Frank Harris‘ final collegiate game. On offense, UTSA hasn’t suffered any additional departures on offense aside from its in-season injuries.
The offensive line has struggled, allowing a 25.6% pressure rate. However, Harris has successfully navigated much of this pressure via his excellent mobility. Plus, wide receiver Joshua Cephus projects to play after catching 82 es for 1,049 yards. The Roadrunners also have three runners who combined for 1,689 yards.
On the other side, Marshall has played excellent defense over the course of the year. However, it has shown cracks in recent weeks, allowing 28-plus points in five straight games to Sun Belt opponents. With UTSA coming in full healthy, the Roadrunners should have no problem scoring.
The Herd will play without starting quarterback Cam Fancher. The team will turn to Cole Pennington, who threw 79 times and completed 62%, throwing no touchdowns and six interceptions. Fortunately, Marshall should retain the services of Rasheen Ali for his final college game, and he rushed for 1,043 yards this year.
On the UTSA defense, the Roadrunners lost AAC Defensive Player of the Year Trey Moore. That said, the defensive line is still the strength of this team after finishing 50th in run defense and 38th in rush. This team still allowed 21 points in three of their last four games, however. The lone exception came against Rice, who played backup quarterback A.J. Padgett. In what should be a slower game, Marshall looks like the sharp side to take.
