There’s nothing left for the Wizards at this point of the season. Their unfortunate tail spin should continue tonight against the host Timberwolves team – the same one tied with the Nuggets for the top seed out West. The same Wolves team with the Thunder just one game back atop the standings. To say Minnesota needs this game is an understatement. Jordan Poole comes off a 12 dime game, averaging nearly 10 in four games played so far this month.
Tonight’s total on Underdog better represents Poole’s assist average over the month of March, rather than this recent spike seen over just four games. What’s interesting about this play is the injury status of Poole’s teammate Kyle Kuzma – questionable right now with an ankle injury. If Kuzma is out, that’s a loss of a significant scorer who will play similar minutes with Poole, and would hurt his chances of getting 7 assists.
More so than just Kuzma’s ankle is the defensive prowess of the Wolves. Minnesota will be relentless when needed tonight, slowing it down and causing turmoil when the Wizards have. the ball. Despite having the same record the Suns are on the right side of the seeding, holding the 6 seed over the Pelicans. Another example of a team that desperately needs a win tonight. Unlike the Wolves, Phoenix will host another team looking to solidify their seeding in the LA Clippers.
Jusuf Nurkic is charged with grabbing 12 boards against the Clippers to hit the HIGHER side of this play. It’s going to be easier to play the other side with this matchup. It’s not so much that Ivica Zubac will shut down Nurk, but the Clippers have significantly limited the Suns big man.
In just two games this year against the Clips, Nurkic was held to 3 and 6 rebounds. Not a great sign in a game that both teams need, grinding the pace down to more of a playoff feel. We like the LOWER play here and it’s backed by our pick’em tool.
