The NBA season is still in its infancy but storylines are already piling on by the night. From early surprises to way too early drama – looking at you, Philadelphia – the league seems to pack in as much excitement both on and off the floor. Tyrese Maxey Prop: O/U 24.5 Points
The drama is on overload tonight in Toronto. Nick Nurse makes his return to the North, the Raptors are on the second night of a back to back – returning home following an OT loss in Chicago, and James Harden is locked out of the building. Nurse wants this win, he’s lying to everyone he tells otherwise.
While Joel Embiid looked typically sluggish and careless with the basketball against the Bucks, he’s still the main vehicle for any Philly success. The driver of that vehicle is Tyrese Maxey, who should be an All-Star this year especially with the predicted absence of Harden. The young guard exploded for 31 points off 22 shots. The volume for shooting simply isn’t going anywhere until the team fixes the Harden issue, and he’s not coming back to take away shots from Maxey.
The Sixers are simply best when Maxey is a scoring threat, and if Nick Nurse is truly an upgrade over the previous coach, he will push Maxey to fire away on this Raptors backcourt. Nobody on the Sixers from Embiid to Kelly Oubre is taking away any volume from Maxey. The only person who can is the coach and he’s looking to make a statement in Toronto.

Desmond Bane Prop: O/U 3.5 Made Threes
The theme rolls on targeting a team on a back to back but in this case it’s to tail not fade. There’s a nice break for the Grizzlies after battling at home against the Nuggets to now hit Washington, DC. The nation’s capital boasts one of – if not #1 – the worst teams in the NBA. The biggest reason why the Wizards are so awful is their refusal to play defense on multiple levels. Tonight’s game against the Grizzlies opens some spots to target with Memphis, from scoring to rebounding.
The best play here features their top scoring threat and him doing it from behind the arc. Desmond Bane and his fellow teammates should get up rather quickly on this down and out Wizards squad, and there won’t be much extra effort from Washington to slow Bane down. Even if there was, it would be short lived.
Derrick Rose is another name to keep an eye out for an over play, coming off the bench in what should be more of a blowout scenario. The reality is that Bane will be doing a lot of heavy lifting while Ja Morant remains out, and should see plenty of looks from three against a weak perimeter defense. Take the + money here on the strength of volume for Bane alone, but he will also get a couple of easier looks – certainly easier than anything Denver threw at him.

The Knicks are also on the second leg of a back to back after knocking off the Hawks. Julius Randle’s assist line is set at 4.5 and OddsShopper has identified a side that’s a solid bet. The under play here is best bet at -111 on FanDuel. OddsShopper has the true market value for this play at -136, so FanDuel is beating that rather significantly.
The other books just aren’t beating the -111 and a few are actually charging more than the -136 fair market value.
