The Dodgers look to complete the sweep of the Boston Red Sox tonight in Los Angeles. The Sox send Kutter Crawford to stave off what could be their third straight loss to open up the second half of the season. With the firepower in the Dodgers lineup, we focus on Chris Taylor and whether he can muster up one hit against the Red Sox staff. Taylor isn’t a typical everyday player, but with injuries he’s found his way in the lineup a little more often. That hasn’t turned over a massive number of hits, but it has increased the volume of at-bats, something that should help tonight against Crawford.
Taylor has a hit in six of his 14 games this month, and in each of them it’s come with at least three at-bats. We expect a full outing for Taylor tonight at home, with three to four quality plate appearances. His numbers haven’t been great, from the lower xBA to a rough 32.6% strikeout rate. That’s also matched with a walk rate north of 12%, so he’s a threat to at least draw a walk. We like him to see some good pitches tonight as Boston works their way around guys like Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani.

This is another great market to attack on Pick6 as we target one of Boston’s better hitters at the top of the lineup, knowing there’s some power and possible RBI potential within any Duran at-bat. The Red Sox are going to be tough to sweep tonight even on the road as they face James Paxton, who should leave some openings at the plate. I like Duran to be in solid spots tonight right from the start of the game. Paxton is struggling all around and is in a bad position against this desperate Sox lineup.
With just a 15% strikeout rate and 12% walk rate, Paxton is absolutely gettable by Boston. Duran is smoking the ball with a .279 xBA and providing enough power to be a leadoff threat for a double — or even long ball. The Red Sox should field as much of an everyday lineup tonight against Los Angeles, so don’t expect Paxton to just pitch around Duran all night. With Rafael Devers and the rest of the top of the Red Sox order, Paxton might find himself in an early jam or two. Boston’s best hope tonight is being aggressive at the plate against a guy who isn’t striking out many batters, at least not enough. That starts in the first half of the inning with Duran.
