Francisco Lindor H/L Than 1.5 Total Bases
The race to avoid the basement is officially on between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals. The Nats host the Mets tonight as Washington sends MacKenzie Gore to the hill to counter Tylor Megill. We only care about the Nationals starter going up against Francisco Lindor, as the Mets shortstop is in for a battle at the plate. There’s nothing “wrong” with Lindor, as he just had an 11-game hit streak snapped Sunday night. He’s not striking out a ton either — sitting at a 17.1% on the year — but the matchup isn’t friendly.
Gore is lighting it up with a 29.1% strikeout rate combined with an 87.0 exit velocity and a .300 xwOBA. He’s not only dealing but hard to hit, especially with anything harder off the barrel. Both teams are in desperate need of a win here, as their overall deficit behind Philadelphia widens. We just like the matchup with Gore over Lindor, even if it keeps him to just a single.

Things aren’t great for Colorado either. Sitting at the bottom of the NL West and a loser of two straight, the team will need an even bigger performance out of guys like Brenton Doyle. We aren’t holding our breath tonight against the Reds, even with this game at Coors Field. Andrew Abbott is charged with keeping Doyle and others in check, something that won’t be easy for the Rockies to overcome.
While his strikeout rate isn’t dominant at 18% this year, Abbott makes up for it with a .282 xwOBA and .222 xBA. That, along with his 32.3 hard-hit rate, makes Abbott a difficult matchup for this Rockies team at the plate. Doyle was hitless against the Dodgers in three straight games, and while that in itself is not indicative of any performance tonight, facing Abbott is far from any relief.
