Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale isn’t satisfied with his massive payday from the Houston Astros’ win in the World Series. After the TCU Horned Frogs upset the Michigan Wolverines to reach the College Football Playoff national championship, the Texas furniture mogul has placed another massive wager, this time on TCU-Georgia.
According to VSiN’s Ben Fawkes, Mattress Mack has placed a $1.5 million bet on TCU to win at +370 odds in Louisiana. If the Horned Frogs can pull off the upset, he’ll net $5.55 million.

Mattress Mack Set For Huge Payday if TCU Upsets Georgia
McIngvale placed the wager after TCU ticked up to a 12.5-point underdog against Georgia. He secured pretty good odds in the process — per DraftKings, the Horned Frogs are still at +12.5 but have moved to a +350 on the moneyline. According to BetMGM data analyst John Ewing, 70% of the bets are on TCU to cover the spread, but less than half have them winning outright.
TCU began their season 12-0 before losing to the Kansas State Wildcats in the Big 12 championship game. It had several close calls throughout the season, including the 51-45 semifinal win against Michigan, but has shown an innate ability to come away victorious late in games.
“We’re good enough to compete,” head coach Sonny Dykes told ESPN. “We have all the pieces here. We just have to put them all together and we’ve got to do things the right way. We have to be willing to pay the prices. And those guys believe that. They really have. They believed it from day one.”
Still, not many believe TCU can pull off the long shot upset against Georgia.
“We use it as motivation, because why not?” receiver Quentin Johnston said. “It’s one of the main things I feel like has driven us to the success we’ve come to this year. So honestly, there’s going to be a lot of outside noise, people projecting us to lose by however many points, but we’re going to keep doing what we’re doing and prove them wrong from week to week.”
