Maryland will open their season as 20.5-point favorites over visiting Mount St. Mary’s, who finished last season with a 13-20 record in the MAAC conference. Maryland is returning multiple starters, including Jahmir Young, who was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Big-10 team. Young was a second team All-Big 10 selection last year, averaging 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 31.4 minutes per game, thats 28.77 fantasy points once you add in the turnovers.
I expect Maryland to roll tonight against an inferior team and begin to make their case for a top-25 ranking. There are already three other Big 10 schools in the top-25 to start the year.

Julian Reese, Maryland, M/L 12.5 Points
Another Maryland Terrapin here, as stacking big favorites is a play I indulge in for college basketball. Julian Reese is entering his junior season after starting 33 games for Maryland last campaign. Reese finished eighth in the Big 10 with 7.2 rebounds per game and recorded seven double-doubles. He averaged 11.4 points per game on just 7.4 field goal attempts. He scored 13 or more points in 12 of his 33 games, averaging 26.9 minutes per game. I’m expecting Reese to play closer to 30 minutes tonight.

Jalen Bridges, Baylor, M/L 12.5 Points
No. 20 ranked Baylor will host Auburn as 1.5-point underdogs. ESPN is broadcasting this game on National TV. Baylor’s three leading scorers from last season are all gone. Adam Flager graduated, Keyonte George is playing for the Utah Jazz, and LJ Cryer transferred to Houston, but they have filled two of those spots with highly touted freshman guard Ja’Kobe Walter, and RayJ Dennis, a transfer from Toledo who averaged 19.5 points per game last year.
Bridges averaged 10.3 points per game starting alongside those three who all averaged more than 15 points per game. A 6’9” senior, Bridges has increased his minutes and points per game each of the last three seasons. He shot 50.6% from the field in 27.3 minutes per game last year.
With most of the usage likely going to the two new Bears, it’s going to be hard for Bridges to get enough shots to get to 13 points in this game, considering he’ll be matched up with Preseason All-SEC selection Johni Broome from Auburn. Broome averaged 2.4 blocks per game last year and will surely make it difficult for Bridges to score in the paint.
