Chase Elliott, one of the most popular and accomplished NASCAR drivers in the field, will not be racing this weekend at the Pennzoil 400. Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass reported late Friday night that Elliott suffered an injury after a snowboarding accident this week. Josh Berry will be replacing him in the No. 9 car this Sunday.

Elliott was listed among the top favorites at 10-1 for this weekend’s race at Las Vegas prior to the injury news. Check out the latest Pennzoil 400 odds below, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
It has been announced that Chase Elliot is undergoing surgery from the injuries suffered from the snowboarding accident, but no further information has been released as of yet.
“Chase’s health is our primary concern,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports in a statement from the team, per NBC Sports. “He’s spoken with several of our team and is understandably disappointed to miss time in the car. Of course, he has our full , and we’ll provide any resources he needs. We hope to share another update later this weekend.”
Elliott, the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series chamoion, was off to another solid start to his 2023 campaign. He notched two top-five finishes in the first four races, finishing second to Kyle Busch in last weekend's Auto Club 400. He was quick to give all the praise to Busch after the veteran secured first win since making the leap over to Richard Childress Racing this season.
“Why is anyone surprised by this? I mean that’s just mind-boggling to me that anyone is surprised that Kyle’s a fantastic, one of the best racecar drivers to ever do this," he said, per Bounding Into Sports.
